Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole have the Internet in an infinite neck bind and they don’t plan on loosening their grip any time soon. The dynamic rappers have teased a joint project together since 2011. But the thought of the pair trading priceless bars back and forth became even more of a reality late 2015 when they dropped a remix of each other’s songs in a package titled “Black Friday.”
The Fayetteville native decided to tackle K. Dot’s instrumental on “Alright,” while the Compton representer took his lyrical take on Cole’s “A Tale of Two Cities.” Following the arrival of those stop-in-your-tracks melodies, Kendrick’s sister, Kayla Duckworth, reportedly unveiled the drop date of their potential full-length collaboration, stating that Feb. 16 would be the day to mark on your calendars.

With these hints and possible updates on the compilation’s imminent arrival, an image is floating around the Internet that has spectators thinking the project is underway. Now, it could be another unconfirmed image, but if the “Forbidden Fruit” rappers don’t have a cover idea yet, maybe they should stick with this one. Their faces are morphed into one with a graduation cap and gown, but instead of holding up a diploma, the figure displays a sign that reads “Parental Advisory Explicit Content.” The artwork was created by @Tommies_S.

In an interview with HOT 97 in March 2015, Kendrick spoke briefly on his musical venture with Cole, stating, “I like all energies of music. It’s just the balance; we just gotta make sure we have that balance. And it’s up to me to bring that. It’s up to Cole — and I know where he come from — to bring that and keep that balance in there.”
